JACK D. ORTEGO
President
Jack D. Ortego has a PhD in Dairy Foods and minor in Microbiology. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Ortego is a former member of St. Landry Economic Development Boar has expertise in developing and maintaining community relationships to increase quality & quantity of jobs and improve quality of life in St. Landry Parish. He is a former member of the St. Landry Parish School Board and has experience in school governance, finance, curriculum, and operations. Dr. Ortego is the owner of Ortego Consultants, a management development program that provided professional development for superintendents and principals in the areas of confidence building, communications, and goal-setting. Dr. Ortego’s vast expertise and experience will bring leadership, guidance and cohesiveness to SLCS.
NORMA R. JOHNSON
Vice President
Norma Johnson is a former educator, has 30 years serving the St. Landry Parish School District as secretary to the superintendent and board. Mrs. Johnson has vast experience in school governance, policies, finance, and operations. She has served 7 superintendents and attended over 360 school board meetings that brings experience, guidance, and leadership to SLCS governance board.
ALBERT SIMIEN, SR.
Secretary
Albert Simien, Sr. has served on several boards. Mr. Simien in currently the Vice Chairman of the Opelousas General Health Care System Board of Directors. He also serves as the Chairman of the Personnel Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee and Facilities Planning Committee. Mr. Simien has vast experience in making strategic decisions to ensure the hospital is providing quality care. Mr. Simien is a well-known member of the community and brings a wealth of leadership experience to the Board.
STEPHEN M. MORROW
Treasurer
Mr. Morrow has practiced law in Opelousas for the past 35 years. As a businessman, he understands the seriousness of the conditions of the schools in Opelousas. Mr. Morrow has a vested interest in providing an education system that will benefit the children, the community, and produce a viable workforce. His expertise in best business practices, legal issues, human resources, and community service brings guidance and strong leadership to the Board.
DWIGHT L. BROWN
Member
Dwight Brown is a Lieutenant on patrol, DARE Officer, Resource Officer with the Opelousas Police Department, and is an ordained minister. As a DARE and Resource Officer, Lt. Brown works in conjunction with government leaders, teachers, and parents to provide a safe school environment. He also works with students to develop life-long skills to avoid drugs, cope with bullying, and build self-esteem. Lt. Brown’s work and understanding of the challenges faced by our children brings insight, compassion, and experience to our Board.

CHASITY DAVIS-WARREN
Member
Chasity Davis Warren was born and raised in Opelousas. She is married to Lamar Warren. Chasity has a degree in Early Childhood Education. In her early 20’s she opened a childcare center. After the success of her center, she decided to make her community better by purchasing other properties that were in horrible condition. She made one building into a teen center for kids to have fun and receive homework assistance, free of charge. She turned another building into a dine-in restaurant. She is a licensed life, health, and accident insurance agent as well.
