This year, SLCS will enroll 44 students at each grade level from kindergarten through 7th grade.  We will add one grade level each consecutive year until we reach K-8 by the school year 2026-2027. 

SLCS will be an open enrollment school. Registration for students currently attending and their siblings will have priority. A re-enrollment form must be completed and timely submitted to the school’s office to accurately determine the numbers of spaces available for the following school year.

Open enrollment for new students will commence January 9th, 2024, and end February 29th, 2024.  Parents will submit a completed enrollment form.  The completed student enrollment applications will be accepted by 1:00 p.m. of the application deadline day. Each application will be stamped and dated by a school official.  Students will be selected on a first-come-first serve basis. 

Should enrollment applications exceed the allotted number of enrollment a lottery system will be implemented.

Enrollment Lottery:  A lottery will be conducted if the number of applicants exceeds the maximum enrollment in accordance with the projected enrollment numbers indicated in the charter application. The lottery will take place within fifteen days after the end of a 30-day open enrollment period for student enrollment applications.  Each student will be assigned a number, and the numbers will be selected at random from the lottery box under the supervision of a governance board member. Twins or triplets will all be accepted if one of the children are drawn. The students will be listed as admitted in the order they are drawn until all slots are filled for each grade level.

Thereafter, the names will be placed on a waiting list in the order they are drawn from the lottery box. Students will be notified and asked to register by completing and bringing the appropriate registration documents within ten days of being notified or forfeit their acceptance at SLCS. Waiting list students will be notified (in the order they fall on the waiting list) by phone if a slot becomes available. Should they choose not to take the slot, their name will be removed from the waiting list and we will call the next student on the waiting list and so on until all slots are filled.

Letters will also be sent home the following week notifying all applicants of their status.  The school will repeat this lottery process each year in the event of oversubscription for the seats available in each grade. Students may apply for grades kindergarten through fourth grade in year one and later grades as they are added.
